CENTRALISATION THOUGHT LIKELY. ALWAYS IN WELLINGTON. crowing Relief that tiie ILoynl Agricultural Show, would ultimately 1» centralised in Wellington and that the holding of shows in other centres was impracticable was brought to the notice of the directors of the Southland Agricultural and Pastoral Association on Friday by Messrs A. S. Holms and A. L. Adamson (secretary) Avhen reporting on a meeting of the Royal Agricultural- Society of Neiv Zealand in Wellington. Both delegates admitted that they had themselves come to the conclusion that the time was not far distant when the Royal Slioav Avould he confined to Wellington in vieAV of difficulties of finance and transport. Mr Holms snid that the Royal Slioav Avas not a success the Avny it avus being carried out. Ho felt more and more that until they could run their oAvn slioav and commercialise it so thnt more overseas buyers Avould be attracted the shoAv Avould not attain thut success for Avhich it had been organised. It Avas hoped to hold the 1940 Royal Show in conjunction with the centennial celebrations in Wellington. Looking at the position from all angles, he Avas forced to the conclusion that the show had, to he run ns a unit of its own, an* 1 that it should be centralised.
