CRIPPLED CHILDREN’S SOCIETY.
MANAWA'TU BRANCH. At a meeting of the executive of the Manawatu branch of the Crippled Children’s Society, held yesterday, Mr R. G. Black presided. Various matters of business deferred from the annual meeting last week were dealt with.
Dealing with the question of the hon. secretaryship, Mr T. W. Henderson again submitted his .request that he is relieved of these duties as he strongly felt that the expansion in the work of the society made it impossible for him to devote the necessary time to the work which it required. The chairman, (Mr Black) said that, much as the society wished to retain Mr Henderson’s services as secretary, they could not altogether disregard his expressed wish in the matter. Mr Henderson had faithfully carried on the work for the past three years and had declined to accept any honorarium. It was true that the society’s development was now reaching a stage of increased activity, involving added office work, and he felt that under the circumstances Mr Hinderson's request should be acced to. He moved, therefore, that his resignation be accepted with regret, that his valuable services bo placed on record, and that he be elected to an executive position on the committee, this being carried. , Mr K. G. Chamberlain was elected to the vacant office of hon. secretary. Reports regarding several cases of vocational training of crippled children were submitted by Mr G. G. Hancox on behalf of the vocation training committee. . . It was decided that the advertise immediately for a lady welfare officer for the Wanganui-Mana-watu districts and a schedule of duties was submitted and approved.
