NEW CATTLE FENCE.

INTEREST IN ENGLAND. LONDON, July 30. Farmers arc manifesting a very keen interest in a new type of American cattle and sheep fence. It is a single-wire fence, 18in from the ground and electrified by an ordinary motor-car battery serving 15 miles of wire. Animals touching the wire receive a harmless shock, which they respect. It is believed to be more effective than hedges or barbed wire. It does not harbour vermin or rabbits. The fence has been awarded a silver medal by the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Society as the best laboursaving apparatus.
