(From Our Own Correspondent.) WHAKARONGO, Aug. 8. On Thursday tho latest Queen results were posted. The position is changed, and tile School Queen is now on top, tne totals, very even, being: School 23,463, 11a1123,403. Acceptances arc pouring in for the jubilee luncheon for old pupils, and a large attendance is expected. There was a good attendance for the biweekly euchre function. Prizewinners were: Ladies, Mrs Gray and Miss V. i’uklowftki; the formor also talcing second prize, console, tion, Miss M. Vautier; men, Mr N. Clinton 1, Messrs S. Albert, R. Gore, senr., and Gardner equal, the latter winning second prize. Consolation, Mr It. Gore. On Thursday evening the Women’s In stitnte held a social and dance, the procoeds going toward the general jubilee fund. There was a good attendance, and the programme was a popular one. A professional orchestra opened the concert, a young vocalist, Stan Wright singing with them. A number of institute ladies were a surprise item singing a topical song, and as an encore “Sweet and Low.” At the end of the programme “Farewell” was sung. Tho songsters were Mesdames J. Morris and A. Frith, Misses 11. and J. Wood, W. and M. Vautier, T. Ncwcombe and L. Smith. Miss Joan Lynch da,nccd the Irish Jig, and was followed by Mr Hook singing two numbers. Mr Claude Henderson was a capable tap-dancer, and Mrs Frith gave two elocutionary numbers. Mrs Cameron presented songs and Peggy Bullock captivated her audience in an operatie dance, while songs by Mr McDonald were enjoyed. Mr Oliver narrated humorous stories and a tiny pupil of Miss Juno Scott, Pamela Boyes, in cldc black and silver suit, was a popular tap-dancer. Miss Dorothy Clauson gave skipping dances. Tho floor was cleared, and an orchestra provided music for a jolly dance, Mr J. Morris being M.C. Among those present were: Mesdames J. Morns, rose crcpo and black coatee; A. Sly, brown; Uhrbom, black; Culpan, black floral; Coutts, green satin; Lynch, green; Lawrence, red and silver; Smith, black; Fountain, floral; Morgan, red georgette; Hastings, black; Fuklowski, brown and gold; Harvey, navy; Misses M. Vautier, blue georgette; J. Wood, green georgette; H. Gore, blue crepe; T. Ncwoombo, rose satin and black; 11. Wood, daffodil crepc-de-eliino; E. Vautier, lime taffeta; G. Jones, green spot taffeta; M. Speedy, Cherry satin; W, Rowlett, floral: D. Joffrec, green crepe; W. Vautier, nil georgette; J. Scott, black taffeta; L. Smith, lemon taffeta; S. Speedy, blue crepe; O. Uhrbom, green floral; LSpeedy, gold satin; C. Vautier, green taffeta; M. Sly, red satin and silver; J. Smith, bluo taffeta; J. Harvey, pink crepo and silver. Novelty dances were won as follow: Gay Gordons, Miss M. Sly and Mr N. Speedy; Monte Carlo, Miss J. Smith and Mr E. Nowcombe.
