AUSTRALIAN AIRWAYS

AMERICAN CAPITAL. RUMOURS CURRENT. BANKERS’ DENIAL. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received August 7, 11.38 a.m. MONTREAL, Aug. 6. The belief prevails in banking circles that Pan-American Airways are one of the principal backers of the Australian inter-capital aviation scheme “in order to provide a domestic link-up with the Pacific service.” The Australian Associated Press learns that similar rumours have been current in aviation circles on the Pacific coast for some time. The principal officials of Pan-American Airways refuse to comment, but the New York office said it was without confirmation. The National City Bank categorically denied any connection, financial or otherwise, with the enterprise.
