Mr 3 A. H. Morgan is a Hamilton visitor to Palmerston North, and is staying with her father, Mr Pcrmam. Mrs G. S. Avorn, of Mere Mere Avenue, lias staying with her Mrs Weston, of Ohingaiti.
On Thursday afternoon a happy little tea party was held at Roseo’s in honour of Miss Haultain’s birthday. Those present were Mesdames O’Reilly, Jackson, Ferguson, Scott, AVyllie, Ashworth, Hunter, Corkindale, and Miss Blake.
J)r Elizabeth Gunn, acting-Director of School Hygiene, returned to 'Wellington this morning alter having been in Palmerston North to examine prospective candidates for the teaching profession.
Miss E. O. Lake, who was granted leave of absence from the Palmerston North branch of the Public Trust Office, and for the past 18 months lias been on a world tour, arrived in Auckland bills week. Miss Lake will be spending a few weeks at her home in Hamilton before returning to Palmerston North towards the end of this month to resume her duties.
A presentation was made to Miss C. Snelling by the matron and stalf of the Otaki children’s health camp, on the eve of her departure for Palmerston North. The matron, in asking Miss Snelling to accept an electric iron, inferred to the happy associations that had existed between Miss Snelling, tho staff and the children over a period of two years, and voiced their best wishes for her future happiness. Reference to the death of Miss J. N. McGliie, matron of the Palmerston North Hospital, was made by Air J. A. Nash at the spring fair of tho Palmerston North Hospital AY omen’s Auxiliary, yesterday. Miss McGliie was deeply interested in the erection of a chapel for tho nurses, said Air Nash; she knew well the need for it. It was unfortunate that she had not lived to see the day when, they hoped, the chapel would be opened.
