Received August 7. 11.25 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 6. Mr Charles Todd, deputy, manager of the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition, is visiting Glasgow to arrango for the sending out of detailed plans of the Glasgow Empire Exhibition to Wellington. He is making a special study of the floodlighting of fountains and the amusement park. In the county cricket Hardstaff scored a century in 51 minutes, the fastest of the season. He hit fifteen 4’s and a 6. The whole innings occupied 70 minutes.
In the Hampshire tennis championships, semi-finals, Stedman (New Zealand) beat Bean 6—l, 6—2; Malfroy (New Zealand) beat Lister, 6 —2, 6—3.

SYDNEY. Aug. 7. The State Cabinet has appointed Mr C. N. Neale Commissioner for Road Transport and Tramways, in succession to Mr Maddocks, at ia. salary of £2500 a year. Mr Neale joined the tramway service in 1896 as office boy at a salary of 10s a week.
