CORONATION TROOPS.
EQUI PM EXT DIFPICULT Y TIME AY AS VERY SHORT
WELLINGTON. July 6. One factor concerning the criticism of the uniform worn by the New Zealand Coronation contingent at the recent celebrations is that there was insufficient time to equip the troops properly according to information received yesterday. It was stated that the last" uniform arrived on hoard not Ion" before the ship sailed from "Wellington with the contingent for London. . The uniform itself is believed to have been made from the ordinary service khaki, and the contract was let in Wellington. The individual measurements of each menil>er were taken, of course, but it is said that in some eases there were no preliminary fittings, which were out of the question because of the shortage of time. The uniforms were made on much the same lines as the service type with modifications in the tunic. Special brass hat and collar badges were worn. [Pack boots, puttees and riding trousers of the same klia.ki material completed the kit.
