Mr W. Mouldey. president of the Manawatu Trotting Club, will attend the Trotting Conference in Wellington to-morrow.
Mr G. McNamara, Director-General cf the Post and Telegraph Department, intends to leave London on July 9. arriving in New Zealund on or about August 12. He intends travelling byway of the Panama Canal. The death is reported from Sydney of Mr Henry J. Hedger, manager of the Sydney Industrial Blind Institution. He was recognised throughout the world an an authority on the education of the blind. He was 78 years of age.
Plcaure was expressed at a meeting of the executive of the Manawatu Lawn Tennis Association last evening, when it was announced that Mr H. N. Watson, the president of the association. has enjoyed considerably improved health following his recent illness. Comment that two former members of the City Council had recently suffered bereavements was made by the Mayor (Mr A. E. Mansford) at the meeting of the council, last evening. On his motion, resolutions of condolence were passed with Air J, A. Nash in the death of his brother, Air N. H. Nash, and with Mr W. McKenzie in the death of his wife. A motion of sympathy with Air J. A. Nash, who is president of the Terraco Knd Progressive Association, in the passing ot urother, was passed at a meeting of the executive of the association last evening, and it was decided to convey the expression to him by letter, while a similar lettei is to he sent to the family of the late gentleman. The chairman (Mr T. W. Henderson) said that since the last meeting the president of the association had suffered a grievous loss in the death of his brother, and the speaker felt sure that the executive wished to be conveyed to their president. and to the late gentleman’s family, an expression of sympathy in the passing of one who had done much for Palmerston North and for Terrace Knd in particular. The motion of sympathy was carried in silence.
