FARMERS SEEK INFORMATION. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 0. Dairy farmers in the Auckland province are asking what the Government intends to do with the sum of alxnit £43.000 which lias accumulated in the Dairy Industry Account in the Reserve Bank. It was collected in the form of a special levy of 3d per lmx on the major part of the butter exported from the North Island of New Zealand during the past season. Little has b:en said by Iho Government about Hie levy since it was imposed and the actual amount accumulated has not been disclosed. It Is known, however, that two thirds of the butter exported from the North Island has been subject to the levy and that, at 3d a box, the amount produced would ho 10s a ton.

The purpose of the levy was to discourage the use of saranac boxes for butter exports.
