BREACHES OF AWARDS.

MAGISTRATE’S COMMENT. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July (j. “I often wonder why the officials administering awards do not show more discretion in treating trivial breaches,” said Air Orr Walker, S.M.. in imposing a fine of one shilling for a breach of the butchers’ award by James Perry, of New Lynn, in not having paid overtime to two assistants who had worked a few minutes overtime when a delivery van had been delayed by being bogged on I’lirangi Road. It was explained that defendant had given his assistants a full day off on Coronation Day on full pay and had overlooked payments of Is 6d and 2s 2d overtime until his attention was called liv the department, when he paid immediately. A fine of one shilling was also imposed on the Auckland Meat Co. because its shop was not closed sharp at noon on a Saturday.
