CRICKETERS AT BRISTOL.
NEW ZEALANDERS MAKE 362. FIVE BIG SCORES. (From the Special Correspondent of the United Press Association with the team.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) BRISTOL, July 4. The confidence in batting of the New Zealand cricket team, first evident at Nottingham and maintained at Taunton, was shown again yesterday at Bristol, when the tourists scored steadily, against the shrewd Gloucester veterans Goddard and Sinfield. the lefthander Emmett and the swinging Barnett and Cranfield. The weather was fine and the wicket good. New Zealand scored 3G2. Lamason was forceful, especially in off-driving and leg hitting. His score included seven fours and four threes. Donnelly, scarcely waiting to settle down, attacked energetically, scoring a sparkling half-century in half an hour beiore being caught. One shot, which hit the sight screen, was nearly a six. He hit 10 fours.
Moloney played patient, correct cricket for nearly three hours. His score included four fours. Weir and Roberts added 91 for the eighth wicket in an hour. Weir mingled caution with aggression, hitting two fours and a six in one over off Goddard. Altogether lie hit eight boundaries. Roberts steadily gathered a chanceless half-century. He hit fiVe fours and three threes—mostly with powerful drives. Clean ground fielding helped to keep down the score. The tourists batted for nearly five hours, and Gloucester 50 minutes to score 4S for none. A happy crowd of 8000 gave generous applause. ’l'he former Governor-General of New Zealand, Viscount Bledisloc, who was present, in a speech broadcast through loud-speakers, said he was' pleased to welcome the worthy representatives of a beautiful and loyal Dominion. He appealed for contributions to the ground improvement fund and a collection round the ground made by Page, Vivian and Donnelly realised £39. The players to-day are to visit Lydney Park as the guests of Lord and Lady Bledi-sloe. .
