AIVATOR’S WIFE INJURED. ACCIDENT IN PETONE. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 4. Thrown through the door to the pavement when tho car in which she was travelling swerved to avoid a bus, Mrs Fay Griffiths, wife of Captain E. N. Griffiths, the young aviator who arrived in New Zealand recently after taking part in the Spanish civil war, received a fractured skull and shock. Captain Griffiths was unhurt. The accident occurred in Aurora Street, Petone, about mid-day on Saturday. Mrs Griffiths is the second daughter of Mr and Mrs W. D. Robinson, of Hataitai. They were married in Wellington on June 22. AUSTRALIAN KILLED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 4. Leonard John Matthews, aged about 40, an Australian with no fixed address, was killed while crossing the Hutt Road on Saturday night when he was struck bv a car. The fatality occurred near Petone.
