(From Oiu- Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, July 2. During June rain foil on eight days, while the fall was only .79in. The total fall for the past six months was 14.8 m. The heaviest fall for the month was .37in on the 4th. There wore sixteen frosts, the heaviest being fourteen degrees (ground). There were two of thirteen degrees, one of twelve, two of nine, two of seven, and two of six. The month was the coldest for- many years.
The following statistics for Olaki arc recorded for the quarter ended June 30: Births, European 27, Maori 5: deaths, European 3. Maori 4; marriage licenses i* : sued. 4. June: Births, European 11, Maori 1; death*, European 3; marriage lieei ises issued, 1. A slight improvement i« retried in the condition of Mr G. Galloway, who was recently severely injured as the result of a motor collision at Auckland.
A very pleasant; evening- vns spent when a number of friends assembled to say an revoir to Mr J. Sc-obie, of To Horn, who has since left the' district. Mrs Jury, in banding to Mr Scobic an eiderdown, spoke bitrhlv of the popularity of the guest. The whitebait season is now open, but un to Hie present there is-a scarcity of fish. With warmer weather it is hoped that n-poH eat plies will lOsnit. The social at the Catholic Parish Hall was splendidly attended. Mrs Waaka and Mr Kangi Nikora were the prize-winners, while the poinls prizes were won by Mrs G. Wintcrhurn and ATr IT. L. Beauchamp. A dance was also held, when Mrs Knoka provided the music.
