HARRIER RACE.
WIN FOR PALMERSTON NORTH. Eleven members of the Wanganui Harrier Club journeyed to Palmerston North oil Saturday to engage in an inter-club run with the Y.M.C.A. Club. The Palmerston North team emerged victorious by 55 points to 85. The first eight men in each club counted in the teams’ race. The following are the placings and times of the first fifteen to finish'(there were 25 starters) : C. Weller (Palmerston North), 36 min 37sec, 1; Iv. Johnston (Wanganui) 38min 4sec, 2; J. Scott (Palmerston North), 38min 30sec, 3; K. Gallowa.v (Palmerston North), 38mm 33sec, 4; H. Clark (Wanganui), 38min olsec, 5- N. Hearsev (Palmerston North), 39min 24sec, 6; L. Dromgoole (Wanganui), 39min 48sec, 7; S. Oxenliam (Palmerston North), 39min 49sec, 8; A. Newlands (Palmerston North), 40 min ssec, 9; G. Johnston (W anganin), 40min 23sec, 10; C. McVicar (Palmerston North), 40min 35sec, 11; G. Hallam (Wanganui) 40min 49sec, 12; J. (Woodd (Palmerston North), 41min 14 'sec, 13; It. Orr (Wanganui), 41 min 15 sec, 14; I. Hanford (Palmerston North). 42min 40sec, 15. C. Weller took the lead after the first half-mile and gradually increased his lead to win easily by about 400 yards. K. Johnston, a veteran of many races, came in second some 40yds ahead of J. Scott (Palmerston North), who in turn heat K. Galloway by about lO.vds. The local runners teamed very well and proved too good for the Wanganui men over, the boggy paddocks. Next Saturday the club will travel to Marton to engage in an inter-club run with the Marton Club.
