Feilding had a runaway victory over \Y oodv ille in the game played on Johnston Park, the final score being 38 points to 5. Though scoring was frequent, there was nothing inspiring about the play. Completely outclassed, the visitors could only hope to spoil the attacks, which their forwards succeeded iu doing on some occasions. The teams were : . Woodvihe.—Hansen, Court, J)c Malnent, Smith, L. Sutherland, Bowyer, r.iacKenzie, Waldin, Nicol, L) Uewe, Morrison, Spihnan, Sullivan, Mitchelson, Newman, Kitchen, Rosser, Henson. • . Feilding were the attackers from the kick-off. Twice R. Uewe thrust into Woodville territory with quick runs, but gave his wing no field in which to manoeuvre. Before long Sullivan denied from a scramble on the lino, \V. Sutherland failing to goal. Woodville sprang to life following this, and a iienaltv to the visitors took play to Fendbase, Nicol clearing and sending Sutherland away to midfield. Pcilclnig scored again when Sutherland broke away and passed on to Bowyer, who raced on and beat all comers to ground the ball behind the bar, Stuckey goading. A good rally by the Woodville forwards placed Feilding on defence, ragged play by Woodville enabling Fctkling to throw off the attack. Feilding’s third try was scored by MaeKenzie. who received from Nicol and just beat the opposition to score near the corner flag. Waldin’s kick failed to add the minor points. Play continued to favour Feilding, though the inside backs’ passing was not workmanlike. Woodville transferred play to the Feilding line when Court punted hard and high and Stuckey was caught in possession. A series of scrums kept Feilding defending till Wald in s hiis punt centred play. Again Woodi illc s efforts placed Feilding m difficulties, and Waldin’s failure to take Ins man nearly allowed Boulton to get over the line. Feilding concluded the first spell with trv by the posts, the backs oaSying the'"ball to the Woodville twenty-five and Spilman getting possession to he lmuled down close m. Maidin came up smartly to gathei the ball and score. Bowyer goaled. The second spell was a repetition of the first. After some poor play by both teams Sutherland got the ball and found a wav through the opposition to score under the bar, Bowyer goaled. Sullivan was the next scorer, breaking away from a line-out and finding Ins opponents out of position to ground in the corner. Waldin’s kick went astray. Woodville at last scored, the forwards breaking through weak opposition and dribbling the hall over the line for Rivers to win the race for tho_ ball. Smith goaled. Nicol and MacKenzie were the duo who added the next try for Feilding. well out, Sutherland s kick falling short. Nicol, Bowyer, and Sutherland got through to add another trv. close to the touch-line, Stuckey finding the distance too great to goal. Immediately after. Nicol, Slither.and, Newman and Kitchen raced away and Kitchen scored under the posts, Kitchen’s kick sending the hall against the upright. Morrison was the next scorer, the Woodville team having gone to pieces. The scorer goaled. Feilding were on the point of scoring again wnen the final hell sounded Feilding 38, Woodville 5. Mr A. Neville was the referee.
