ECLIPSE EXPEDITION.
RETURN TO CHRISTCHURCH'. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, July 5. AYel! pleased wiui the results of their work but less pleased with tho 13.5 degrees of frost that welcomed them after being accustomed to tropical temperatures, the members of the New Zealand solar expedition to Canton Island, in tbe Phoenix Group, arrived :tt Lyttelton this morning on the Maui Pomare. The members of the expedition are: Messrs C. B. AJidiTe (leader), I. L. Thomsen, of the Dominion Observatory; AI. Geddes, AV. Rose, AY. F. Berry, E. P. Alton, F. Gnivitb and Major G. A. Buddie, zoologist at tbe Auckland AYnr Memorial Museum. Practically the whole of tbe programme arranged was carried out on Canton Island, where the expedition remained for 12 days. Afr Aliehie said that the visual and photographic records of the eclipse were very satisfactory and they believed that, although it was tc)o early yet to make a definite statement, very valuable data had been collected.
