POHANGINA VALLEY.
(From Our Own Correspondent. POHANGINA, duly 3.
Bov Belshazzar Gina of Uovinna. Solomon Islands, conducted flip foreign missions services in the Afethodist Church. There was a large congregation. On Tuesdav evening. Rev A. H. Sci'iviri. of A tickland, gave an interesting lantcrr. lecture dealing with many phases of medical and missionary work. Tho little church was filled 10 capacity, and at the close of the address. the speaker was accorded a vote of thanks on the motion of Rev. C. A. Boston. A capacity house greeted lhe concert and I dance held in the Pohangina Hall on Wednesday evening, the proceeds being in aid of the Pohangina Anglican Church funds. Rev. A. J. Farnoll occupied thee hair, the artists were under* the direction of AJrs McNnilly, of Palmerston North, and every item received well merited applause. The programme was as follows: Songs, All's Niven- recitations. Aliss AL Cranston; songs, Aliss AI. Gnbb; character sketches, Miss M. Cranston: songs, Air P. Keith; violin selections, Mr Findlay: songs All's D Balmer; humorous items, Mr \V. Tabor; songs. Alise M. Diederieh; monologues, AIM, Cranston; songs, Mrs Fnicllny; recitations. Air Tabor: vocal duets Afes,lamos Findlay anil Niven. Mrs McNeilly and Miss .1. Howell wore (he accompanists. Mr Farncll, (hanked the artists and also paid a. tribute lo the ladies who organised llic. event. Music for the dance was rendered by Mrs McNeilly (pianoforte) and Air Findlay (violin), extra numbers being contributed by Mrs A. W. Blixt. and Air J Dawson. Mr F. Roberts carried out the duties of M.C. At a meeting of the Cricket Club it was decided lo hold the annual ball at the end of the month. Mr and Mrs J. D. Galvin have returned from a holiday in Auckland. Mr and Airs Tows, senr., of Palmorston North, are spending a holiday in Pohangina. Air and Mrs L. Tews, of Pohangina, aro on a visit to Napier. Air If. Moar is on a visit to Jlawkos’ Bay, Messrs 0. and L. Wagstaff are on a motor lour of the northern ilisll'iets. Mr W, Fisher, of Gieymoutji, who has been on an extended visit to I’ohangimi. where, he was the guest, of hts j iiinlhoi*, iia* lolunicil lo the West Coast. |
