ST. ANDREW’S CLUB
VISITORS ENTERTAINED. The monthly meeting of St. Andrew’s Men’s Club was held on Tuesday night in the Sunday school hall, when icL large gathering welcomed the members of All Saints’ Men’s Club, who were the guests of the evening. The meeting opened with community singing under the direction of Mr T. P, Henderson, Mr F. McLachla.ll officiating at the piano, after which the president (Mr H. F. Wilson) called upon Air W. B. Tennent to welcome the All Saints’ men. This he did in a few well-chosen words, and congratulated them on turning out in such large numbers to visit St. Andrew’s, which went to show the good feeling that existed between the members of the two clubs. The president of the All Saints’ Club suitably replied. An orchestra under the leadership oj Air Wingate gave several items and had to respond to an encore on every occasion. A 10-minute talk on living European statesmen was in the capable hands of Air J. C. Young, who chose for his subject Herr Hitler. Mr Young gave a splendid sketch of this remarkable man and his career, which showed that much time and care had been devoted to the subject. Vocal items by Mr H. Blackwood and Air H. E. Bennett brought forth applause and both had to respond to encores. The main talk of the evening. A Visit to China,” by Mr H. B. Low, M.A., was both interesting and instructive, ’especially his description of the lives and habits of the people of Tibet. An open competition for the best joke was won by Air AY. Oliver, Mr Penny. J.P.. being the judge. The singing of the National Anthem brought a very pleasant evening to a close, the hope being expressed that it might be made an annual event.
