The casualty list in the Chesterton mine disaster - is 24 dead, eight being in a critical condition. It has bee.ii ascertained that the lire has not been extinguished but is spreading, and the engineers have decided to flood the pit immediately. The seventeen bodies that were located below ground have been removed.
