(From Our Own Correspondent.) lIALCO.MBK, July 2. 'J'he Hockey Club’s fortnightly flag “500" tournament on Wednesday evening was taken an opportunity to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs W. Rogers and their two daughters, Clara and Adolaido, who are leasing to live in Palmerston North. Air K. AV. Cowdrey, speaking on behalf of the residents and the sports club, paid a tribute lo the popularity of tho departing family. Mr and Mrs Rogers, stilled the speaker, wore quiet supporters of all the township’s neliviticfl and on behalf of tho Football Club and the residents, he asked them to accept a handsome tray of cutlery. To Air Rogers, who had boon ailing for some time, he expressed the hope that ho would soon ho fully recovered. 'J'he Alters- Rogers, said Air Cowdrey, wore keen sports, and the Hockey and Tennis Clubs would miss them. On behalf of tho Hockey Club, lie presented -Miss Clara Rogers with a vanity case and Miss Adelaide Rogers with a pair of silver serviette rings, while the Tennis Club’s gift was a crystal powder bowl each. Afr Rogers r>nid bn and Mrs Rogers were sorry lo he leaving the district, hut on account of his ill-heulih tuis could not be avoided. The Mieses Rogers also expressed their thanks. The card prizes were won by .Mesdames K. Rosser and J. Bush and Messrs E. Rosser ami L. Pago, the lastnamed also winning the prize for tho travelling flag.
