ALTITUDE FLYING. —Landing at the Rome airport after flying to a height of 51,348 ft, thereby beating the altitude record held by Squadron-Leader F. R. D. Swain, of the British R.A.F., Colonel Pezzi of the Italian Air Force, is seen above being helped from his specially built altitude suit. His record has now been broken by Flight-Lieutenant M. J. Adams, of the British R.A.F., who on Wednesday attained 53,937 ft.
