MARTIN BEATS MCMAHON. Per Press Association. GISBORNE, July 1. After a fine boxing match in which both men showed fine sportsmanship, Billy Martin, lOst Gib, was awarded a decision over Jack McMahon, lOst 91b, after a 12-round encounter. The decision was a surprise. McMahon was always the aggressor and took the majority of his opponent’s blows on his elbows and gloves. Martin was handicapped by an eye injury in the first round as a result of a bump from McMahon’s head. CRAIB BEATS DUNN. Per Press Association. TIMAIIU, July 1. In a professional lightweight boxing contest to-night Colin Craib (Timaru) beat Harry Dunn (Wellington) on a technical knockout in the tenth round of a scheduled 12-round bout. The pair; collided early in the fight and Dunn injured his left eye which swelled considerably and he was unable to see, his ‘towel being skied at the beginning of the tenth. Dunn showed speed and cleverness and there was little between the pair when the fight stopped. It v s Craib’s first professional contest. Ho was the aggressor throughout, preferring to get in close, but Dunn revealed good defence and sscored with both hands at long range.,
