VALEDICTORY.
AIRS A. HOPAYOOD
Mrs A. Hopwood, who leaves next 1 week with her husband on a holiday trip to Japan, was entertained at an enjoyable afternoon tea party in the Roseo tearooms, yesterday. The hostesses were Airs AV. Renton, who wore a black and floral ensemble and black hat; Airs C. L. AJowlem, in a tweed tailored suit and brown felt hat; and Mrs C. Neilsen, wearing a bottle green frock and hat, the guest of honour being in brown witli brown hat and fur coat. The tea tables were daintily arranged with Iceland poppies and silver lurch, and after the guests had enjoyed chatting over the tea-cups Mrs Renton asked Mrs Hopwood to accept a posy and large box of sweets, expressing the good wishes of those pro sent for'a happy holiday and safe return. Airs Hopwood expressed her thanks Otners present were: Alesdames J. Allen, Af. Aitchison, A. AVorboys, AV. Winks, Simmons, G. Stout, R. A. Fuller. It. Hopwood, F. G. Major, Alartin, Alisses Trotter and Hopwood. AIRS J. G. CROOKS. A number of the friends of Airs J. G. Crooks, who leaves with Air Crooks to take up her residence in Christchurch this month, gathered at the Itosco tearooms, yesterday afternoon, to bid her farewell. Airs Crooks was wearing a black costume with white accessories. The hostesses were Mrs L. J. Plank and Airs A. Ashby, who received the guests in the lounge, which was decorated with Iceland poppies. Afternoon tea was enjoyed, after which Mrs Plank, on behalf of those present, convoyed best wishes to Airs Crooks and asked her to accept an album containing views of Palmerston North. Airs Crooks also received a dainty shoulder spray.
