MENACE OF WAR.
IION. P. FRASTR’S REMARK. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 30. Further reference to his remarks regarding the possiblo clanger of an outbreak of war was made by the actingPrime Minister (Hon. P. Fraser) in a statement issued this evening "My remarks in regard to the danger of a rupture in international relationships carrying with it the danger of a possible outbreak of war were based exclusively on the published cable news,” Mr Fraser said. “They were part of a brief resume of world affairs in which I emphasised the menace of war due to the overthrow of democratic principles in various countries, the weakening of the power and effectiveness of co-operation through the League of Nations and the consequent loss of goodwill among nations. They were no more than a personal opinion based upon my own interpretation of the world position and had no other significance. Published apart from their context they may have effected a different impression.”
