HALCOMBE.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) HALCOMBE, July 1. The dance held by the Halcombe Maori Labour Party proved a highly successful function. A happy crowd filled tho dance floor and the card tournament for nondancers was well patronised. The euchre prir.es were won by Mm J. Gotty and Mr Stantiall, with Mrs L. Hakaraia and Mr F. Kimura as runners-up The June meeting of tho Young Farmers’ Club eaw only a fair attendance. In tho unavoidable absence of the lecturer arranged for, Mr E. W. Barnett gave an interesting talk on hill country farming. Mr I. Bennett, of Mangaonobo, who has been staying with Mrs Voss and family, has left with Mr W. Voss for Auckland. Mr and Mrs V. Pratt and Mr R. Voss have left to spend a week or two in Owhango, whore they will be the guests of Mr and Mrs T. Voss. Miss E. Vos*, of Taihape, is spending a fortnight at home with her mother. Miss D. Voss, who has spent a fortnight in Owhango as the guest of Mr and Mrs T. Voss, has returned home. Mr and Mrs W. Stewart and family have left Halcombe to take up farming in the rhVnrt.
