EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD.” JULY 1, 1907. General William Booth and Mark Twain luid been presented with honorary degrees at Oxford. King Edward VII bad spent a long time watching milking machines at the Lincoln Show. He inquired closely into their working and said that the invention ought to succeed. At the Sydney sheep sales Lincoln ewes averaged four guineas _ and ranis five guineas. Messrs McKenzie and Lovelock's (Palmerston North) Lincoln hoggets averaged £4 5s Id, and their Romneys £2 James Mills, of the Union Steam Ship Company, bad been created a Knight Bachelor. . In the House of Representatives, the member for Otaki had urged that the Government take immediate steps to buy out the Manawatti Railway Co.
