FROM PITCAIRN ISLAND.

INTERESTING VISITOR. # To liavo a visitor from Pitcairn Inland is the somewhat unusual experience of .Mrs L. Pedioy, of Uongotea, and tin? cireutndaners that led to the arrival of her guest, Mrs Roberta Warren, in Rongotea

arc also out of the ordinary. About; twenty years ago several pupils of the Carnarvon School wrote letters which were to bo delivered to children attending the school on Pitcairn island. This resulted in a friendly correspondence being maintained through the years till now Mrs Warren is visiting in person sonic of those who corresponded with her and members of her family. Although advanced in yeans, and the mother of a family, Mrs Warren is wonderfully active and finds keen enjoyment in licit first experience with trains, motor-cars, and tho many other comforts not found in the more primitive conditions of her island home. She is in the fourth generation from Edward Young, one of the original mutineers of the Bounty. Since going to Kongotca she has seen cows being milked for the first time in her life; there are no animals on Pitcairn except goats, milk and butter being made from flic kernel of the eoccan ut,' which is crushed and the milk extracted. Not only has Mrs Warren a fund of anecdote with regard to the history and people on the island, but she is very well versed in world affairs and has a command of the English language that indicates a cultured mind. She is a keen gardener, growing all the familiar vegetables, besides an abundance of roses, gladioli, zinnias, geraniums, and single and double jasmine, which thrive there along with many varieties of native flowers. Mrs Warren expects to return home very shortly and is enjoying her experiences in New Zealand very much indeed.—Ron got ca correspondent.
