BOWLING
PALMERSTON NORTH CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Palmerston North Bowling Club was held last evening, Mr C. L. Mowlem presiding over an attendance ol’ some thirty members. Apologies for absence were tendered on behalf of Messrs H. Crawford, J. A. and J. H. Nash, J. A. Colquhoun, G. Stephenson, G. Brown, and M. O’Connell. The report and balance-sheet (already published) were adopted on the motion of the chairman, who said the club was in a very sound financial position—the strongest for many years. Activities had resulted in a net profit of £27 3s 9d, commitments had been reduced, and the greatest credit was due to the green supervisors, Messrs G. H. Barrett, J. K. Baton and A. Wilson, to whom he expressed his personal thanks lor their work.
Appreciation or the economy and efficiency with which the ladies carried
out the afternoon tea arrangements was expressed by both the chairman and Mr Baton.
Common ling that the membership of the club was about eighty at present, the chairman commented that the club could accommodate another twenty. Messrs T. Attwood, J. Robertson and W. S. Box were elected new members.
Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow: —Patron, Mr A Aiken; president, Air T. L. Arnott; vice-presidents, Messrs E. Bary and W. Mouldey; general committee, Messrs J. Median, J. A. Colquhoun, 11. C. Morgan. A. 11. Northover, H. R. Green, C. L. Mowlem, I'. L. Sector; selector All' E. Bary; green superintendents, Alessrs J. K. Baton, A. Wilson and L. Lovelock; hon. secretary, Air AV. 11. Simmons; hon. treasurer, Air A. E. Kerslake; hon. auditor, All’ K. AV. Eglinton ; delegates to the Alanawatu Bowling Centre, Alessrs •T. K. Baton, T. L. Arnott, and C. L. Mowlem. Club trophies won during the vear, the winners having been mentioned in the annual report, were then presented by the chairman.
Votes of thanks were accorded the ladies and the outgoing officers for their services during the year. During the meeting a message of goodwill was received from All - AV. B. Crump, of Alartinborough, one of the best known members of the club until he left lor the AVairarapa.
