BRITISH PLANE’S FLIGHT’. ASCENT TO 53,937 FEET. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received Julv 1. 11.15 a.in. LONDON, June 30. Taking off from Farnborotigh aerodrome, the Air Force’s experimental high-altitude aircraft Bristol 138, piloted by Flight Lieutenant AI. J. Adams, broke the world altitude record with 53,937 feet attained in 35 minutes.

ALL-BRITISH ’PLANE. SKY CLEAR FOR FLIGHT. (British Official Wireless.) Received Julv 1, 11.55 a.m. RUGBY, Juno 30. Flight-Lieutenant Adams’s altitude record is 2575 feet groat:- than the figure reached by the Italian, Pezzi, last month. Both tho aircraft and the equipment used on the flight were of British design and manufacture. There was a clear sky and practically no wind when the ascent, which took 35 minutes, began. The attempt was observed by an official representative ol the Royal Aero Club and the height attained has been officially communicated to tho Ministry by the club.
