DOMINION’S EXPORTS.

LAMB FIGURES LOWER. CHILLED BEEF INCREASE. For the season from October 1 to Juno 15 exports of only two classes of New Zealand frozen meat —chilled beef and pork—exceed those of the corresponding period of last season. The returns just issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board reveal an increase of 27,142 quarters to 136,021 quarters in shipments of chilled beef, for the period and a rise in pork of 2015 carcases to 456,421 in comparison with shipments for the same period of last season. Tho figures are notable on this occasion, however, for the decline in lambs. For some months shipments have been running above those of last, year, but the position has been reversed during tho first fortnight of June and shipments to June 15 at 5.947.002 carcases now stand 298,150 carcases lower than at tho same date of 1936. On the other band, killings to date have been higher, stocks in store and in vessels not departed at Juno 15 more than accounting for the difference. Mutton continues to show the expected decline, exports for the period at 1,009,942 carcases comparing with 1,282,950 at June 15 a year ago. Frozen beef at 84,676 quarters, a fall of 58.132 quarters, emphasises the growth of tho chilled beef trade. Boneless beef has declined some 3500 bags to 143.018 bags. A comparison of killings for export from October 1 to June 15 in as follows: —
