NAVAL CONTROL

GAP IN PATROL. PROBABLE SOLUTION. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (British Official Wireless.) Received June 29, 11.55 a.in. RUGBY, .1 ulie 28. It is generally expected that one of the proposals for filling the gap in the naval patrol scheme caused by the withdrawal of Germany and Italv will be to assign the task undertaken by those Powers to the British and French Navies. Mr R. A. Eden (Foreign Minister) speaking in the House of Commons, indicated that tho problem of filling this gap had been a subject of the closest consultation between the British, French and other Governments. It was hoped that the question would not long bo left open and that expressions of the views of the Governments will he available to the NonIntervention Committee in London before the end of the week.

Concerning the attitude of the various Governments towards the withdrawal of foreign nationals serving in Spain, M 1 ’ Eden said he was not in a position to make any statement. He added that only four Governments so far had communicated their observations on the question to the Non-Inter-vention Committee. The British Government was willing to agree in principle to accept any plan with any modifications which the Committee might adopt. Concerning the passage of foreign military aircraft to Spain, Mr Eden said that no solution had been found, but the Government would do everything possible to secure a solution. GERMAN WARSHIPS.
