ITALIANS IN ABYSSINIA. LONDON, June 29. The Daily Herald, in a long special article, claims to reveal the difficulties thwarting Marshal Graziani’s attempts to pacify Abyssinia The outer Italian military posts are virtually beleaguered, food and munitions being dropped from aeroplanes. The natives refused to trade and sell produce to the Italians despite the raising of the value of local currency. . . A thousand better class Abyssinian women have been exiled for plotting against Marshal Graziani, who, oyer Signor Mussolini’s signature, is sending out a letter to leading Abyssinians emphasising that Italy is opening her arms to them like a mother to her children and appealing to them to accept Italian goodwill and the benefits of civilisation. He points out that an honourable surrender is a real act of heroism.
