BRITISH SYMPATHISERS.

A Sydney’ girl, Aliss Esme Odgers, has gone to Spain-to take up Hie secretaryship ot the first Catalonian hostel for refugee children from Aladrid. It is financed entirely by’ sympathisers, Britain guaranteeing a shilling a day for each child. Each guardian receives a photograph and particulars of her own protege. Other such projects are under the auspices of the National Joint Committee for Spanish Relief, whose chairman is the Duchess of Atholl. Two hundred children at Puigcerda, near the French frontier, have been guaranteed for one year. Already more than £IOOO has been subscribed. •
