AUSTRALIAN CHESS.
Received June 28, 12.10 p.m. ADELAIDE, June 28. C. Purdy beat M. Goldstein in the play-off for the Australian chess championship,' winning three of the six games. Goldstein won one other and two were drawn. This match became necessary as the result of a quadruple tie between Purdy, Goldstein, Ivoshnitsky and Hastings. Previously Purdy bad beaten Koshnitsky and Goldstein had beaten Hastings.
