A QUIET TONE.

According to the cable message received by the l'rimary Products Marketing Department and supplied to the Dairy Board, the London butter market was quiet during the greater part of last week, but improved toward tho olcee. Friday’s closing quotations, with those for tho previous week in brackets, were as follow:

Now Zealand.—Salted, 109 s up to 110 s (110 s to Ills; a year ago, 105 s to 106 s); unsalted, 110 sto Ills (Ills to 112 s); a year ago, 107 s up to 108-s. Australian.—Salted, 107 b up to 108 s (109 s to 110 s); unsalted, 109 s (110 s). Danish.—94s f.0.b., 115 s spot (955; 116 s). Dutch.—Unsalted, 106 s to 107 s, ex 108 b to 109 s (106 s to 109 b). Polish. —Salted, 104 s to 105 s (105 s to 106 s). 'Pile retail prices of Now Zealand and Danish butter is unchanged at Is 2d a lb

Deliveries of New Zealand butter last week totalled 1835 tons, the quantity in storo being 6392 tons, as against 4708 tons a year ago. Deliveries of Australian butter wero 1764 tons, the quantify in store being 6312 tons, as against 4245 tons a year ago. The Imperial Economic Committee’s ostimale of stocks of all butters in storo is 857,453 boxes, as against 844,044 boxes a year ago. Friday’s closing quotations lor cheese wore as follow, those of tho previous weekbeing shown in brackets: — New Zealand. —White, 74s (74s 6d: a year ago, 58s); coloured, 73s (73s od to 745; a year ago, 58s). Canadian. —White and coloured, 78s to 80s (78s to 865); c.i.f., 71s (725). English factory cheese. —70s to 725. The cheese market is quiet, tho retail price of New Zealand being unchanged at 9d a lb. Deliveries of New Zealand cheese last week wero 18,639 crates, the quantity in store being 72,781 crates, as against 103,662 crates a year ago. Deliveries of Canadian cheese last week were 4482 boxes, the quantity in (store being 56,552 boxes, as against 48,921 boxes a year ago.
