RADIO BEACONS.

EQUIPMENT FOR DOMINION. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 28. Radio 'direction-finding equipment for Cuvier and Moko Hino Islands, at the entrance to Hauraki Gulf, is to be placed on order immediately, stated the Minister of Marine (Hon. P. Eraser) to-day. Difficulty had been experienced in obtaining- such equipment from England, but two beacons were on the Port Bowen, which was due at Wellington on July 11. Three stations would be equipped in Cook Strait— Baring Head, Cape Campbell, and Stephens Island- —and these would l>e followed by the two stations mention-1 ed in Hauraki Gulf. Mr Fraser said he expected that the I Baring Head station would be in' operation in August. | The lights at these stations were | being converted from oil-burning to! electricity, thus reducing the need for | supervision.
