ST. PETER’S CHURCH

VESTRY’S ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report of the vestry of St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Terraco End, states, , inter alia:—Jn presenting tho report of St. Peter's Church for the year that has just terminated —the first of our life as a separato parochial district —the vestry has pleasure in recording that, in spite of the adverse circumstances duo to the epidemic which our Church, in common with others, lias had to face, our spiritual development as a parish has progressed steadily, und our vicar, who, during the short time he has been with us, bus already won the love and esteem of his people, has, with the able assistance of the choir, always succeeded in making our servioes both bright and reverent, with the result that they have been well attended. Our workers have in all directions given valuable and efficient service, and in this connection the vestry again wishes to specially mention the choir and choirmaster (Mr G? G. Priest), the Sunday School teachers, altar decorators, district visitors and ladies and girls sewing guilds. The vestry also wishes to place on record its appreciation and thanks to Mr T. R. Moore for his generous gift in installing electric light in the Church ; also to thank the Indies’ guild for allowing the. transfer of £2OO of its funds to the general account to reduce the large debit balance of the latter, and also for supplying the necessary funds for papering the vicarage. In presenting the balance-sheet, the vestry wishes to point out that, in spite of the £2OO transferred from the Ladies’ Guild account, the general account, lie's only decreased its debt balance bv £s7—the latter now standing at £197 7s 4d. The revenue produced by the envelopes had dropped by nearly £IOO. whilst the cash offerings und other receipts have increased by about £4O. On the other hand, the vestry has exercised the strictest economy with regard to the general expenses, which have been reduced by nearly £SO. Nevertheless, in view of the increased assessment and heavier salaries and wages our necessary expenditure has been considerably increased and a revenue of £550 a year would barely meet it. Our present income is a little over £4OO, so the seriousness of our position is apparent, and the very best help of all interested in our church will be necessary to overcome the present situation. The vestry recommends the formation of a 6trong finance committee to look into, conlaol and develop the present envelope system, and it believes that if this is done, the outlook will be very much brighter next year.
