ASSISTED PASSAGES.
NEW AGREEMENT. P«r Prp«i Association. WELLINGTON, April 29. The new agreement signed a month aff° between tine New Zealand and tjip Imperial Governments regarding assjsted passages for approved immigrants from Britain is announced. It came into force on April 1 and pperates for three years. Assuming that there are 9000 immigrants as there were last year, the agreement means an aggregate saving to immigrants of £B6OO per annum and £2200 to the Government in respect of domestics and farm labourers. All juveniles between 17 and 19 will be free except those not accompanyipg their parents who will be charged the former rate of ’£s 10s. Instead of the previous flat adult rate of £l6 10s, for those oyer 19 the charges now are men £l3 15s and women £ll. Married adults with or without children will be charged £ll.
