CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL.

OPENED AT PIOPIO. Per Press Association. TE KUITI, May 1. The Piopio Consolidated School was officially opened by the Minister of Education, Sir James Parr. The Minister said that the school was an attempt, to bring to the country as good an education as the big cities enjoyed. He urged that transport costs be kept as low as possible because on that the success or failure of the consolidated scheme largely depended. He stressed the advantages of a system that brought children together and gave them a wider outlook and an education of a standard possible in small country schools. The cost of education wak high, hut; it was a most important work. Tho best, complete public works policy would fall to the ground if there was not a cultivated, intelligent population to go with it.
