EMPIRE PROBLEMS
NECESSITY FOR STUDY. OBJECT OF THE EXHIBITION. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received Mav 1, 9 a.m. LONDON, April 30. The Duke of York, when presiding at the exhibition commissioners’ luncheon to the British overseas Press, desoribed Wc:tnbley as “the great university of the greatest human organisation of all time.” The 1925 exhibition hnd shown fresh aspects of pur Imperial life and he was confident of its overwhelming success. The Empire was a great .firm, the heads whereof should consult as _ often as possible, and the exhibition would prove the liest 'form of business consultation. Wembley was designed to enable Britain to always possess some kind of permanent nucleus of Imperial education. He did not suggest an annual full-dress; Empire Exhibition, which was closing definitely in. 1925, but mere data would then be _ available as to the best means of establishing a permanent common centre to study the problems of Empire development. Mr J. H. Thomas, in proposing the toast of the press, said the Empire was passing, through a transition 6tage. “God- knows what the future will be.” Those who, like himself, were in the closest oontact with the problems and. difficulties were more apprehensive than anyone else.—Sydney Sun cable.
