ADDINGTON MARKET. SMALLER YARDINGS YESTERDAY. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 29. At the Addington market yardings all round were smaller to-day. Store and fat sheep sold at improved prices, but fat cattle wore back slightly. Store sheep were a fair entry, and tho best of the ewes sold at an improvement, as did forward lambs, but wethers and indifferent ewes were unaltered. Forward lambs made 26s 6d to 295; ordinary, 23s 6d to 25s lOd; medium, 22s to 235; small, 16s to 19s; good crossbred ewe lambs, 30s 2d; halfbred two lambs, 20s sd; good four, six and eight-tooth crossbred ewes, 27s 6d to 41s; ordinary four, six and eight-tooth crossbred ewes, 32s to 355; sound and tail-ing-mouth halfbred ewes, 28s to 33s 6d; failing-mouth crossbred ewes, 26s to 31s 3d; aged, 19s to 235; aged and low-condi-tiione.d, 12s to 16s 4d; forward four and six-tooth wethers, 32s to 34s 3d; ordinary, 29s to 31s 6d; two-tooth halfbred wethers, 28s 9d to 325.
Fat lambs.—266o woro penned and met with a firmer sale for the best export sorts, which made up to 12Jd a lb. Extra prime lambs made up to 50s; prime, 48s to 425; medium, 35s to 37s 6d; light, 32s to 34s 6d; and store, 26s to 30s. Fat sheep.—An average yarding and improved sale by up to Is a head. The quality was much better than usual. Extra prime wethers realised 48s 9d; prime, 42s to 455; medium, 38s to 41s 6d; light, 33s 6d to 37s 6d; extra prime ewes, 45s 3d; prime, 35s 6d to 38s 6d; medium, 32s to 355; light, 28s 6d to' 31s 6d; aged, 23s 6d to 27s 6d.
F’at cattle. —Another large entry, comprising 565 head. The sale was weaker. Best beef averaged from 32s 6d tio 36s per 1001 b., secondary 29s 6d to 325; light, 25s to 28s; and potter beef, 17s 6d to 22s 6d. Extra prime steers fetched .£l7 ss, prime £l3 to £ls 10s; medium, £lO 10s to £l2 ss; light, £7 15s to £10; rough, £5 10s to £7 10s; extra prime heifers, £l3 2s 6(1; prime £7 10s to £10; ordinary, £4 to £7; extra prime cows, £l2 10s; prime, £6 10s to £9 10s; medium, £4 10s to £6 10s; light, £3 5s to £4 7s 6d. Vealers. —Runners, £6 10s; good vealers, £4 10s; medium, £3 to £3 10s; good calves, 30s to £2 10s; small, 10s to 255. Store cattle. —Only one or two lines of young cattlo with a slightly better demand. Dairy cattle.—A good sale for cows at profit. Best made £lO to £ls 10s; best heifers, £9 to £l3 ss; medium, £5 to £B. Fat pigs—A good sale. Choppers made £4 10s to £6 15s; haconers, £4 to £5 15s (average price per lb 6Jd to 73d); porkers, £2 8s to £3 15s (average price per lb 8d to 9d). Store pigs.—A large entry, with shgntlj better demand. Weaners made 8s to 20s; small stores, 22s to 30s; potters, 35s to 48s. STOCK MARKET. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abrahams -ind Williams, Ltd., report on the Johnsonvillo sale yesterday: A good yarding of all classes of stock came forward, including some prime bullocks. Bidding was inclined to be dull and cattle were sold well within their value. Sheep and lambs sold up to last week’s quotations. LONDON PRODUCE MARKETS. Tho Bank of New Zealand has received the following cabled advice from its London office dated 24th April: Butter. Steadv, 164 sto 166 s per cut. Cheese: More business at the low'er price, 9bs to 98s per cwt. Frozen meat: Wethers are in fair demand. The demand for ewes is poor. Lighter weight lambs are likely to improve Wethers light, 7Jd to jM, heavv, 5Jd to 63d; ewes, 4jd to 7 4 d; lamb's under 42 - s, llid to 12d; over 42 s, IOJd to lid; seconds, lljd to 113 d.
