BIG POLL IN FEILDING. SATURDAY HALF-HOLIDAY CARRIED. (From Our Own Correspondent). As ono expected, a very keen election was fought, the half-holiday question being responsible for a heavy vote. The supporters of Saturday had left no stone unturned to up.-et the present arrangement of a mid-week holiday, and their efforts were successful by a small majority. For (he first time tho Labour Party put forward two candidates, Messrs Laf.nlie and Guy, but they obtained little support, both being returned at the bottom of the poll. Two other candidates, Messrs Quayle and Cleland, who 6tood as independents, were also unsuccessful, as was tho Labour aspirant for a seat on the Hospital Board. The results were not announced until 1.30 this morning-, by which time the crowd had considerably thinned. Following are the results of the three polls:

The municipal elections horo yesterday aroused considerable enthusiasm, and out of a total of 838 on the roll 519 recorded their votes. Rickford 646, A. IIRies 554. WELLINGTON CITY COUNCILLORS. WELLINGTON, April 30. There were 36 candidates for 15 scats on the City Council, and the following were elected:—W. H. Bennett 12,501, R. A. AUCKLAND CITY COUNCIL. AUCKLAND, April 30. The new members on the City Council are: Messrs Court, C. F. Bennett, Coyle, Eady, Brownlee and Phelan (Labour). Eight out of ten Labour candidates were unsuccessful.
