MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. The weekly meeting of the management committee of the Manawatu Rugby Union was held last evening, when the president, Mr A. Hannay, presided over a good attendance of members. CORRESPONDENCE.

From the town clerk, Woodville, advising that tho use of the recreation ground at Woodville for the Rugby season had been granted the union on tho same conditions us last year.— Received.
From Mr H. N. Watson advising that a Quoit Tennis Club had been formed which had obtained the use of the A. and P. Produce Hall, and play would commence on Saturday next. The writer applied for permission of players to use the same gate as Rugby players, and that cards bearing his signature be used as admittance passes.—lt was decided that leave bo given bona fide players to pass through the Rugby gate on presentation of the passes referred to above.
From Bunnythorpo Club withdrawing its third-grade team owing to inability to field a full team. —Accepted. Tho same club also made application for the reinstatement of H. Swainson from senior to junior grade. —Granted. From tho Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association advising that the grounds were under the charge of the union during the winter season and that it was the duty of the union to see that no damage was done to tho premises. Any damage discovered would be reported to the union promptly.—At the request of the chairman the letter was referred to the committeo. SHOWERS FOR PLAYERS.
The chairman reported that tho committee had met the football committee of the A. and P. Association during the week and had inspected the buildings with a view to determining tho best situation for the installation of shower baths for the use of players. The old bar-room behind the small stand had been considered a suitable place and five showers, sufficient to cater for 70 players, could be installed at an approximate cost of £.50 or £6O. The scheme would permit of the supply of enough hot water to meet tho demands of tho above number of players and a halfhour later would be able to repeat the supply. The room would be fitted with forms and, being electrically lighted, would place the union in the happy position of suitably catering for visiting teams. It was the opinion of the meeting that the matter required urgent attention and it was decided to immediately call tenders for the work outlined, the chairman to be empowered to accept the most suitable tender. SHOW FOOTBALL. The chairman also reported that, at the meeting with the A. and P. officials, the question of Winter Show football had been discussed. Mr Colqulioun, of the High School, had been in attendance and had expressed his preparedness to arrange matches between the High School fifteen and teams from outside schools. It had been 'requested that the union arrange for 'the meeting of the Te Kawau and Oroua Sub-Unions on the Thursday of Show 7 week as last year. —lt was decided to endeavour to make arrangements as requested.
FIFTH GRADE FOOTBALL. The chairman reported that Messrs White, Faire and himself had met Mr Oolquhoun relative to the prospect of High School players participating in the fifth grade competitions and travelling away from home, and had been informed that such was impossible. Mr Colquhoun had explained that many of the boys came from Shannon, Foxton, etc., and to ask them to travel beyond Palmerston North was too much. The same position applied to Technical School players. At a previous meeting, Mr Pagan, one of the Feilding delegates, had stated that the Feilding boys were prepared to travel to Palmerston North and Woodville in order to participate in matches.
Mr Lyons stated that he had had a deputation from the Woodville team when the players had stated that they were quite prepared to travel on alternate Saturdays.
In order to provide football for these boys, it was decided that the matter be temporarily held over to enable Messrs Pagan and Lyons to ascertain whether competitions could bo conducted between teams in their respective towns, the winners of the two divisions to play off, the chairman remarking that no doubt the union would be prepared to assist to this end. GENERAL. The classification committee reported on the application of the Jackeytown Club for the reinstatement of six players from senior to junior grade; the applications of A. Anderson, W. Swan, v. Rogers and L. Hogg were granted, but those of J. and R. De Clene were refused meantime. It was decided that clubs be notified that all players bo insured by May 23 and any players not then covered would not be entitled to payment in the event of injury. FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY,
