NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW.
At a meeting of the Winter Show committee, held on Monday, it was decided to reserve No. 4 Hull for evening entertainments, and that the Aianawatu Boxing Association be invited to provide a programme for the first night of the show, Tuesday, 16th June. Wednesday and Thursdays nights, 17th and 18th June, are to be set apart for amateur light, middle and open weight wrestling bouts. The Aianawatu Caledonian Society to be asked for a permit for same, also tho Police. Air J. B. Ferguson was appointed judge. Friday night, 19th June, is to be reserved for nationul dancing, boys and girls under 16 years. In adidtion to the Irish jigs, Highland reels and flings, which appeared* in last year’s programme, a new class, sailors’ hornpipe for girls, was adopted. It was decided to ask Air D. Alunro to act as judge, and Air AI. A. McLeod as piper. The matter of a tug-of-war for Saturday evening, the 20th, was left in the hands of the chairman, and seating accommodation in the hands of a sub committee to confer with tho caretaker. It was further resolved to charge Is admission so long as seating accommodation is available, and after that 6d will be charged. The new hall, No. 5, will now be available for motor space. Air Russell advised that the New Zealand pig breeders hail decided to hold their first pedigree pig consignment sale at the Winter Show and asked that a cap rail be put on the pens for the convenience of the auctioneer, this being agreed to. Alt' Gillies requested the addition of a new class in the fat stock s.iow for best pen pf 2 two-year-old steers. This also was 'agreed to on the voices. Great keenness is evident and the forthcoming event shoitid be a redletter one in the association s annals.
