NEW MAINS GIVE INCREASED PRESSURE.

Residents in tho southern end of the town and particularly those in the region of Chet wood und Lyndhuret streets last flight noticed with pleasure that the gas pressure was amazingly high compared with what it hus been for many months past. '1 he reaeon was the commissioning of the extru feeders off the new pipe line which has just been laid from the new gasworks to tne Square. The chairman of the gas committee of the Borough Council (Cr Graham) states that the old gasometer at the Short street site will no longer be required as ample pressure will be available through direct supply from tho Teraee End works. The laying- of the new main has been carried out in a remarkably expeditious manner under the supervision of Mr Healey, the gits manager, and lias been completed for £4OO less than the estimate.
