CANADIAN POLITICAL SCANDAL. _ . , TORONTO, April 7. Retails of the political scandal which resulted in Charms Mathews, the Assistant Provincial Treasurer of Ontnrio, going to prison, contains a story that in the dying days of the Hearst Government of the province large sums of money were mysteriously carried about the Parliament buildings in a cigar box. Both Mathews and Peter Smith, a former Minister, who was also imprisoned, claimed that they had refused offers of £3OOO in connection with the affairs of tho Homo Bank.
