NO INTENTION OF RESIGNING. LONDON, April 27. Lord Reading (Viceroy of.lndia) and party have arrived. In a statement Lord Reading said there was not a word of truth iu the rumours that ho contemplated resigning. He was definitely returning to India on July 24. He was not prepared to discuss the Indian situation till he had conferred with Lord Birkenhead, Secretary of State. Asked whether ho would be willing to succeed the Right Hon. Sir H. L. Samuel in the High Commissionership of Palestine, Lord Reading (formerly Sir Rufus Isaacs) laughingly replied: “I would not accept the position if you gave me Palestine itself.”—A. and N.Z. cable.
