UNITY OF EMPIRE

ACHIEVED ON ANZAC DAY, SPIRIT OF SELF-SACRIFICE (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received April 28, 10.10 a.m. LONDON, April 27. The memory of the Anzacs was celebrated by a solemn silence at the luncheon of the Australian and New Zealand Club, at the Hotel Cecil, at which Earl Jellicoe was the principal guest. Sir James Allen (High Commissioner for New Zealand) presided and referred to his impending departure for Gallipoli to unveil the monument to the New Zealanders. Earl Jellicoe • mentioned the bringing up of New Zealand children to regard Anzac Day as a day of self-sac-rifice, which was the spirit much needed throughout tho Empire to-day. He concluded by declaring that April 25, 1915, was the day upon which the unity of tho Empire was achieved. —- Reuter.
