MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS. BY-LAW CASES. Mr J. L. Sfout, S.M., presided over yesterday's silting of the Magistrate’s Court. For driving a motor ear around a Square corner on the wong side, H. Kendall was fined 10s, with costs 2s. Charged with pillion riding, D. Mackie and J. Hutchinson wore each fined £l, with costs 7s. Riding bicycles after dark without lights 'resulted in the following being fined 10s each with cost 67s in each instance: R. Bratily, A. CutclifFe, A. Webber, J. S. Ilornblow, W. Trass and H. x\. Matliies. The last-named, for riding on a footpath, was fined a further 10s, with costs 7s. Failure to provide his motor cycle with a silencer cost P. Anderson £2, with costs 7s. Charged with driving a motor car in the Square at an excessive speed, J. F. Lynch was mulcted in the sum of £l, with costs 7s. For leaving cars stationary for more than ten minues other than on appointed stands, J. F. Lynch, E. Galpin and M. Seifert were eaoh fined 10s. with 7s costs. Failure to provide their motor oars with lights after dark cost J. A. Taylor and L. R. Gray £l each, costs in tho first case being 7s and in the latter 11s. The lastnnrned, on>. further charges of using an unregistered motor car and failing to notifv change of ownership, was fined 10a in each instance, with total costs 14s.
C. F. Doggett, charged with driving a motor car through the Manawatu Gorge at a greater speed than 15 miles per hour, was fined £2, with costs 17s 6d. Mr F. H. Cooke, who appeared for the informant, stated that an accident had resulted owing to defendants fast speed.
